Jim,
There's lots of advice and information available about Internet Marketing, but a whole lot less wisdom. This article/blog posting is typical of the insights you offer and one of the reasons you are one of the very few I pay any attention to any more.
Yours is very well-advised and well-intended information. To the great benefit of all my subscribers I will be providing a link to it in my next ezine.

Commitment, Dedication, Desire, Drive, Focus, Tenacity. All refer to the same thing. You need to stay the course if this business is going to work

Great tip on taking one thing, focusing on it, working hard at it to make it work before moving to another.

The problem with online marketing is the plethora of different methods to achieve 'x' that are touted out there. The sense of ungency makes newbies to affiliate marketing jump onto tjis parade and that float before they realize they have their fingers in too many pies. The saying is true, jack of all trades, master of none.

Thank you for a refreshing and motivating post

Jim,

I absolutely agree with you. I have ambitious plans to develop my business this year, but you know, it's really not happening. I am prevaricating. I need to committ myself to my goals. I need to write them down and I need to do it now.

The example you used to show your committment with reciprocal linking reminds me of the website I built for my wife, when she started her tutoring business. It was a simple brochure site and the only promotion we did was getting links from all the important school and education sites. But it worked so well. She now gets all her business from website enquiries and subsequent referrals.

Perhaps I should focus my attention on linking instead of trying every kind promotional strategy that comes my way...

Hey Jim,

I just came to the last post to read the latest comments that poured in the last 2 days - really great learning.

Now this one -- well no much comments from this time. I must confess that I now what to do and what to avoid. I am bookmarking this RESOURCE to guide me this year, 2008.

Thanks for always sharing proven ideas for success.

[...] Some may say this is all just semantics, but when I read the Nichebot Blog about resolutions vs commitments it really resonated with me and I knew at least one other person felt the same way I do. Jim makes some great points and offers some actionable tips that could help your New Year net results, instead of just unkept promises to yourself. See what he has to say about Resolutions are OUT; Commitments are IN! [...]

Hi Jim
Another good post
I've been trying to learn everything - but have actualy done nothing??
So I'm going to cut my email lists, concentrate on doing one action only - to get my first website up!
I guess I'll have to learn as I go!
New Year Resolutions - I stopped making them because they always got broken.
The more I read - the more confused I got!
I guess you only learn by doing!
regards
Graham in U.K.

Jim,
Great advice! Putting these commitments down on paper where you can see them is a good way to keep them in mind. Mastering one thing at a time makes a lot of sense. I tried 37 and did not get too far!
