Yahoo Overture keyword bid tool is no more (Breaking News)

It's one thing when you visit a free public tool and the page doesn't load with your hour glass stuck on your screen.

But it's quite another thing when the web page loads in your browser with a glaring message that depicts a story that this tool is no more.

One of my business partners was going about his business and going to use to the Overture bid tool today at http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/USm/search/tools/bidtool/ and noticed the tool was taken down. (The link above goes to a Google search so as to not create an active hyperlink and point to at a page that is now gone.)

I went there myself and noticed this message…

"Gone

The requested resource
/d/USm/search/tools/bidtool/
is no longer available on this server and there is no forwarding address. Please remove all references to this resource. "

I think that's pretty clear, isn't it?

Either way — NicheBOT is just in the middle of preparing to release its Pay-Per-Click Data including Yahoo (Overture) bids when I conducted a pay-per-click search and noticed Yahoo (Overture) it tonight earlier. Thought it was a glitch when it was pointed out by one of our strategic business partners. That's okay, we'll just keep that column as a placeholder for when Yahoo launches their paid API results. ;)

That's what it's all leaning toward — and that is a paid API service, much like what Google did with their Adwords API just recently when they started charging for searches…

It appears the UK Overture bid tool is still working right now, but that is no assurance it'll continue to be there.

Again — I keep saying this as a repetitive theme — but free keyword research is slowly diminishing it's traces and actual qualitative research that is worth its weight in gold to your free search engine web site promotion for your site has gone up to a premium.

If you do a sizable number of automated requests through your Adwords account with desktop software, don't be surprised if you one day get a bill in the mail saying that you've gone over the quota and you owe "X" dollars. (A really close business acquaintance of mine got a bill in the mail for $1,100. Ouch!)

So be careful with ANY applications that you currently run on your desktop.

That's it for this News Flash.

Until next time. ;)

John @ 10:35 am:

So whats it mean for the ordinary guy just doing a bid search now and then? I just tried the Overture Bid tool, and its still working.

NicheBOT Guy @ 12:32 pm:

I'm not sure what BID TOOL you are using, but the bid tool listed in Google with this URL http://uv.bidtool.overture.com/d/search/tools/bidtool/ says the following:

"Gone
The requested resource
/d/search/tools/bidtool/
is no longer available on this server and there is no forwarding address. Please remove all references to this resource.
——————————————————————————–

Apache/1.3.34 Server at astatine Port 8070"

So I'm just curious what URL you are using for Overture bid tool.

If you don't mind sharing this special URL with the rest of us.

Best,

Jim

Yahoo GONE! Well the 'news' has been peddled since last year when it was a real trouble login onto yahoo overture. Then — later it came back again.

Anyway let's hope yahoo will come up with better alternative soon.
