It’s been about a couple of years since I wrote a pretty thorough article on the 5 free powerful ways to conduct successful online consumer market research and finding a product that’s in a niche market to represent.

That article made some serious waves and rounds on the internet and was reprinted thousands of times on exactly how to conduct online consumer market research the right way.

So in the spirit of keeping things fresh, we’re going to do a quick refresher on how to do this the right way.

The type of market research mentioned in the article above can be done for products you wish to represent as an affiliate (someone who works on commission) or whether you are looking to do direct sales from your own ecommerce site or digital publishing site.

But it still amazes the desperation of some SEO folks go through to attract attention to themselves by releasing a free or paid niche finder tool which (in a nutshell) claims that you start with a keyword database search to find a niche market. (I’ll keep names to myself!)

Someone please help by find the buzzer ———-> BUZZ!

This is ALL wrong and bass ackwards!

It wasn’t too long ago on September 28, 2009, that Google took Google Hot Trends down to 40.

That was what — 3 months ago?

Apparently that cut wasn’t enough because they made another one.

Just today, December 21, 2009, I just noticed…that the results are now down to 20 — so it looks like they are now mirroring the likes of Yahoo with their skimmed down skimpy version of hot keyword trends.

It appears the Big G cut down the results to 40 due to a new format of using the top the hot trends grids in Google.com search results. So if someone happens to search for one of the top 100 most searched terms, you will see a hot trends grid right within the results. They could have just as easily kept the top 100 AND include a grid within the results. Of course, they really didn’t really make it clear WHY they cut down the trends from 100 to 40, but that’s usual G fashion.

All this is great for the visitor (although I don’t think visitors were looking at the top 100 trends like us webmasters), but why does the visitor care about search trends on the topic?

Do you care?

Today’s issue of The Keyword Informer will touch on one tiny little aspect of market research and how you can ethically spy on big business and steal, swipe and utilize their top sales data and market research (without them even knowing it).

We all love to be stealth and this issue is guaranteed to be just that.

If you’re a niche marketer or a trend marketer of any type with various content sites, then you really want to soak this up and make it a part of your consciousness.

Should you run a regular ecommerce site, affiliate site, content site or whatever you do, then this little reading could expand your marketing perspective and how to be an “aware” niche marketer and how to be always on the lookout for opportunities that can advance you.

First, let’s take a step back.

Back a while ago, I published an issue of TKI that discussed how unsubscribing from email lists you are signed up to was not necessarily a great idea and how you can get great examples from others in your industry of (1) how to properly do email marketing and (2) how not to do email marketing. (Instead of getting pissed off at other people’s marketing maneuvers, why not just take it as a queue of how you don’t want to be in your own busines.)

Now, why am I sharing this with you and how does it relate here?

The point I made in that article was to not get offended when people attempt to market to you through email, but rather, view it as a “marketing lesson” and try to understand what the website owner is trying to accomplish.

Hey there,

While you are in the midst of the holiday rush, I wanted to take a moment to wish you and yours a wonderful holiday season on behalf of myself and NicheBOT.

2006 was an awesome year and 2007 only looks like it’s gonna get better with NicheBOT 2 just recently released and constantly being upgraded.

Around this time of the year, I look for ways to give back to every subscriber, every reader, every NicheBOT user, some way that will help them out for the new year ahead.

And if there is something I could give you for Christmas that would set the tone for next year — it’s a plan! That’s right — a plan.

And looking back to what brings me to this day, I would definitely say it is a plan to do big things that really sets the tone for things to transpire in the future.

So plan your success for next year and do it to erase all inefficiencies, making your time spent on purely profitable items.

In the meantime, I come bearing gifts.

I have a report for you to download that won’t take you long to consume at all. It’s a mere 10 pages amd will aid in your forming a plan. This report is awesome and will crystalize things for you in a lot of ways for keyword research and looking for new markets to exploit.
