While mainstream experts from the SEO and internet marketing arena continue to plot together and decide which way to pull the herd (you and I included), I’ve stayed solid on the same principles since May 2004 when NicheBOT began.

Get links to your site.

Wait, I may have overcomplicated that.

Let me say that again, but simpler.

Get links… get links… get links… get links.

If you are lucky enough to arrange an hour of powerful consulting with me on the phone and ask… “What exactly should I be doing to promote my website full force?”

Sure, we’ll come up with a surefire battle plan during the power hour, but ultimately it boils down to one thing.

Welcome to another direct, to the point and content rich edition of The Keyword Informer.

In this issue, we’re going to look at the various places you want to utilize and place your preferred keyword phrases.

I have already conveyed a number of the points that will follow in different articles, discussions, and especially in the weekly NicheBOT Quick Fix Clinic and Live Q&A Show. However, I was looking to create a combined list (a sort of checklist) that one can easily reference to make sure they are not missing any hotspots.

And rather than include a simple quick list of all the places to put your keyword phrases, I’ve included a short discussion as to the why behind it so you have the proper foundation in the placement of your keyword phrases.

Some of the following places are obvious, some of them may not be. Either way, I’ve included visual aids within this article as well for the next time you approach your next website renovation or promotional project.

When you plan to rank at the top of the search engines for a number of keyword phrases, you may want to include as part of that goal and vision to occupy multiple search engine listings.

“You mean there’s a way to occupy more than one top search engine listing for the same website, Jim?”

Yeah — there really is.

In fact, there was a video released a number of months ago that may have breezed passed you or went under your radar, but I thought I would reinforce it right here, right now. (And yes, you’ll get the video replay here.)

There certainly is a way to get one web page to rank at the top of Google and bring with it a secondary page that will show up as an indented listing.

Take this one for instance at the top of Google for the term “keyword service”

And then this one for a similar keyword “keyword services”

Obviously, it goes without saying that when you carry a top 10 search engine listing in the organic results as shown above, it carries with it some authority to curious web surfers that are your targeted visitor.

Did you feel the most recent PageRank update by Google?

I think everyone got affected — and we’ll discuss later on the biggest players who got affected by this recent Google Smackdown.

I heard from a number of people in my circle of influence telling me how this one site got dropped a good couple of PageRank notches from where it used to be and then this other site — and another one and so on.

But what the ultimate affects of this most recent PageRank update remains to be seen. And the only true indicators of how this affected you can be understood by taking a look at your web traffic stats and comparing them to last month’s statistics and the month before.

Did you lose any rankings? Did your traffic take a dip?

In the most likely event, nothing much happened.

Unfortunately, I heard a lot of dismay from this recent Google PageRank update from people and, personally, I pay it NO mind.

A common mistake a lot of people just starting off tend to make is putting a bit to much faith in the Google PageRank system. (Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bad mouthing the system at all).
